Roundup: Henegar sinks HV-record nine 3-pointers, scores 36

CHARLESTON, S.C.—With Adrienne Henegar setting a sizzling pace of 36 points, Happy Valley routed Cross (S.C.) 53-23 on Thursday in the Carolina Invitational.

Henegar did the bulk of her scoring with a school-record nine 3-pointers.

On top 20-13 at halftime, the Lady Warriors broke the game open with a 22-5 third quarter.

Happy Valley plays South Carolina’s West Ashley (5-1) on Friday.

University High, David Crockett and Cherokee are also participating in the tournament.

CHARLESTON, S.C.—Mauri Johnson’s 11-point, 11-rebound double-double anchored University High’s conquest of Orangeburg Prep (S.C.).

Calli Newberry also had 11 points of her own for UH (7-5), which got eight from Gracie Crabtree. Bekah Rice had 6 points to go with nine rebounds.

Hanahan, S.C. 14

CHARLESTON, S.C.—The Lady Pioneers roughed up Hanahan behind a 14-point, 8-rebound performance by MacKenzie Baldwin.

Emma Gouge pitched in 11 points and Madison Orr 10 for Crockett, which recorded 36 rebounds and nine steals. Orr sank all three of her team’s 3-point buckets.

While the Lady Pioneers piled up 22 first-half points, Hanahan managed to score only two.

HARRIMAN—Matt Hughes poured in 19 points, Hampton dominated the second quarter and the Bulldogs knocked off Sunbright in the annual Jim Cordell Christmas Classic.

Trailing by three points at the end of the opening period, Hampton outscored the Tigers 20-9 in the second quarter to claim a 30-22 advantage.

The Bulldogs, who meet Oakdale at 4:15 Friday afternoon, were up 49-35 entering the fourth. Morgan Lyons added nine points to the winning cause.

CLEVELAND, Tenn.—Tray Curry had his 24 points before the start of the fourth quarter as Bradley County subdued Unicoi County in the Cleveland Holiday tournament.

Mason Rothwell contributed 14 points and Quante Berry 13 for the Bears, who seized control of the game in the second quarter and led 47-31 at intermission.

Brock Thompson was tops for the Blue Devils, totaling 17 points — including three 3-pointers. Connecting four times from beyond the arc, Brett Lingerfelt finished with 14 points.

KNOXVILLE—Ryan Johnson totaled four 3-pointers and 16 points for the Rangers (6-6), who jumped on tournament host Berean with a 17-2 first quarter.

John Ramsey contributed 12 points to the win, which included 11 apiece from Isaac Hill and Will Sexton.
