Kanayo Obi-Rapu’s first year playing for the East Tennessee State basketball team will be his last, as it turns out. The 6-foot-3 senior guard has been granted his release to pursue a transfer.

Obi-Rapu averaged 3.4 points per game while shooting 32.8 percent from 3-point range in his one season with ETSU. He played in 28 of the Bucs’ 34 games. He transferred to ETSU from NCAA Division I Longwood University, where he connected on 63 3-pointers and averaged 12.0 points per game during his sophomore year. He sat out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Since he graduated in the spring, Obi-Rapu can transfer to a Division I program and play his final year of eligibility this coming season.
