When a senior’s sports season comes to a close, it can be a time to remember people who helped along the way.

Below are some senior student-athletes who took a minute to say, “Thank you!” to someone who had a positive influence on their basketball careers.

Emily Sizemore, Daniel Boone

“I would like to thank Tammy Pearce for teaching me the fundamentals of basketball at a young age and for getting me started in travel basketball. Thank you for teaching me how to work hard and for the memories shared over the years.”

Lily Griffith, Dobyns-Bennett

“The person who had an impact on my basketball career was Coach Bill Francis. Coach Francis has always believed in me and pushes me to succeed in anything I do. He showed me how important it is to do things the right way. I’m thankful for the opportunity he’s given me.”

Tate Wheeler, Science Hill

“Halston Lane, an AAU coach for the Tennessee Travelers, helped me become a more versatile and much better overall player. He gave me the opportunity to play on his AAU team for four years, which helped me improve greatly.”

Joseph Harless, University High

“Brian Mason has been many things for me over the past few years. He has been a friend, teacher, and coach to me throughout high school. I want to thank him for the countless hours working in the gym with me and making me the player I am today.”

Tee Johnson, David Crockett

“As I was growing up, my dad was telling me I was the best player in the gym and I needed to act like it. Once I got to high school, it was Coach John Good and Coach Tony Gordon telling me I was good.”

Hayden Cassell, Dobyns-Bennett

“I would just like to say a huge thank you to both of my parents. They are my biggest supporters through both the ups and the downs. They sacrifice so much for me so I can chase my dream of being a college basketball player. No matter if it is a win or a loss, they love me just the same and are extremely proud of me. And I cannot thank them enough for that.”
