ETSU women upended by N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C. — Held in check offensively through most of the first half, East Tennessee State went on to drop a 70-58 women’s college basketball game to North Carolina State on Thursday night.

The Bucs, who slipped to 6-6 with the loss to the Atlantic Coast Conference school, were held to nine points in each of the first two quarters and trailed 30-9 at the 5:34 mark of the second period.

With Anajae Stephney and Erica Haynes-Overton combining for their team’s final nine points of the half, the Bucs got back within 14 at intermission (32-18).

ETSU kept battling and crept within four (54-50) on a Tianna Tarter bucket with 5:47 to play, but the Bucs drew no closer.

Britney Snowden topped ETSU with 15 points while Jada Craig had 14. Tarter totaled 12 points and eight rebounds, with Sadasia Tipps amassing eight boards.

Lucky Rudd had 12 points for the Lady Wolfpack (9-2), who received an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double from Chelsea Nelson.

Aislinn Konig added 11 points (three 3-pointers) and Erika Cassell 10 to the victory.
