For the third time this season, the Johnson Cardinals broke their single-game attendance record when 4,167 fans came out to TVA Credit Union Ballpark on Saturday night.

It was Star Wars Night, and the Cards lost 4-2 to the Greeneville Reds. They broke the previous record of 3,947, set on July 3.

"We can't thank this community enough for giving us back to back record nights here at TVA Credit Union Ballpark," Cardinals General Manager Zac Clark said. "When we got to work this off-season, we knew this year would be special but the support this community has shown us has completely blown us away. Thank you Johnson City for your unwavering support. We can't wait to get back here Monday night and make a push to break 5,000.”

Monday night is the team’s final “Dollar Monday” with $1 beers, soft drinks and candy bars.

Johnson City averages 2,236 fans per game, second in the Appalachian League to Pulaski.

With four home dates left, the Cardinals have a better-than-average chance at breaking the club’s season attendance mark for the third year in a row. They are at 62,595 and the record, set last year, is 65,202.
