Paul and Nancy Stanton

Dr. and Mrs. Paul and Nancy Stanton will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a family vacation at the Isle of Palms, Charleston, SC.

The couple was married on July 2, 1966, at Cascade Methodist Church, Atlanta, GA. Rev. Charles Gray officiated.

Dr. Stanton retired as President of East Tennesse State University in 2012. He is presently President Emertius of ETSU and a Washington County Commissioner.

Mrs. Stanton reitred as a middle school teacher and then devoted her time to her family and as a volunteer in her children's schools and to local and regional non-profit organizations.

The couple have three children and spouses: Eric and Gulhan Stanton of Gray, Ryan and Donna Stanton of Lexington, KY, and Shelley and Mo Canada of Smithfield, VA; the couple have seven grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher and Michael Stanton, Ava and Amelia Stanton, and Grayson and Evan Canada. They are also expecting their eighth grandchild, Sadie Lynn Canada in early August.

Dr. Stanton is the son of the late Gene and Ruth Stanton, and Mrs. Stanton is the daughter of the late Thomas and Ercel Brumit.
